Audiometric Tests (2 weeks with cochlear implant)

Audiometric Tests (2 weeks with cochlear implant)

I was really looking forward to a new Map since most people seem to get a bunch of them right away after their activation and here it had been 16 days before I got my first new one.  Even so, and even after 15 years of hearing tests, I was nervous about the testing they [...]

Week Three and New Map #1

Having Monday off work threw my timing off on this post a bit.  Or maybe just procrastination. First – I have a new audiogram and CUNY, HNT and CNC scores for my right (CI) ear, but I’ll put that in another post so it will be easy to find later. Big events of my third week with the CI: Saxophone [...]

Sunday afternoon Don and I drove down and went to the house of my older cousin and his wife. My older cousins and I haven’t had a lot of opportunity to be [...]

First trip to UNC

The drive down yesterday, Sunday 3/1, was awful!  There was a severe snow storm for the 60 miles between Lynchburg and Danville, VA and we were crawling along at 25 mph seeing cars slid off the road into the ditch every half mile.  I looked at the radar map as we were heading into the [...]

Welcome

Photo of Sara Looking out a Window
I'm a 30 year old girl originally from upstate NY. I work full time as an engineer and try to pack as many hobbies into the other 14 hours of my day as I can. I lost my hearing at age 14 and have been using hearing aids since then. In April 2009 I received my first cochlear implant. That went really well so in December 2009 I got the second. The CIs are what prompted me to start writing publicly - but I try to cover other things as well.
